Content Commune didn't start with a business plan. It started with a shared belief - that good content should be accessible to everyone, not just those with big budgets.
During the pandemic, both of us found ourselves going freelance - independently carving out space in a landscape that was shifting fast. We saw the same thing from different angles: talented freelancers in Sri Lanka with real skill but no platform to elevate their work, and small businesses struggling to find content that actually represented them. The gap between the two was obvious. Someone needed to bridge it.
That someone ended up being us.
Our story together actually starts at ThePapare.com - Sri Lanka's premier sports media platform. We joined around the same time, and it was there, in the middle of breaking stories, building coverage, and figuring out what good content really meant, that the foundation of Content Commune was quietly being laid. As ThePapare grew, our paths diverged - Sachin moved to Canada to pursue his studies, and Ganeesha stayed the course, eventually leading the platform as Editor-in-Chief and taking it to a level neither of us had imagined when we started.
But the instinct to create - and to create well - never left either of us.
A year ago, we decided to formalise what had already been taking shape informally. Not an agency in the traditional sense, but a commune. A space where experienced freelancers could collaborate, grow, and deliver work they were proud of. Where a small business owner could walk in without a massive budget and walk out with content that punched above its weight.
Content Commune was built to champion the little guy - on both sides of the table.
Today, we operate across Sri Lanka and beyond, with Sachin bridging local expertise and global markets from Canada. We're still early in the journey. But the mission has always been clear: bring the right people together, tell better stories, and make sure nobody gets left behind.
A Journalism graduate from the University of Toronto, his career spans writing, commentary, camerawork, marketing, and event planning across ThePapare.com, Daily FT, Ada Derana and multiple other publications.
Having worked across both the creative and commercial sides of the industry, Sachin understands what content needs to do, not just say - bringing that intersection of storytelling and strategy to every client relationship.
When he's not running projects or refining copy, he's usually on a rugby field - coaching, learning, and reminding his players that communication wins more than games.
